In a DZRV interview, Atty. Erin Tañada — co-convener of the Article 11 movement, former Deputy Speaker, and acting Liberal Party president — strongly criticized the flawed budget process, illegal “insertions,” and infrastructure scams that he says rob Filipinos of public funds. Tañada called for “open BICAM sessions” to ensure transparency, the accountability of lawmakers and contractors who benefit from kickbacks, and the return of stolen money. He stressed: “We cannot normalize corruption. The system is broken, and we must fix it.”
Highlighting the upcoming Kilos Protesta on September 21, Tañada urged citizens to unite in demanding reforms: “Rain or shine, we must show our anger at corruption.” Despite the threat of a typhoon, he affirmed he will join both Luneta and the People Power Monument protests, saying the people’s voice must be heard regardless of political divisions. Tañada emphasized that corruption is “systemic” and must be confronted head-on, not covered up or tolerated.
The Article 11 movement, alongside civic groups and ordinary Filipinos, is rallying for accountability, transparency, and good governance. As Tañada told DZRV: “The President himself said we have the right to be angry — and now is the time to stand together and demand change.”
